Call for Papers: Journal of Kinesiology & Wellness (JKW) – 2025 Issue

The Journal of Kinesiology & Wellness (JKW), the peer-reviewed publication of the Western Society for Kinesiology and Wellness (WSKW), is now accepting submissions for its 2025 issue. We invite scholars, practitioners, and students to contribute original research, reviews, and theoretical papers that advance the fields of kinesiology, health promotion, physical activity, and wellness.

Scope and Topics

JKW welcomes submissions across a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Exercise Science

  • Physical Education

  • Biomechanics

  • Motor Behavior

  • Health Promotion

  • Movement Studies

  • Wellness and Lifestyle

  • Sport and Physical Activity

We encourage interdisciplinary approaches and innovative perspectives that contribute to the scholarly dialogue in these areas.

Submission Guidelines

JKW accepts submissions on a rolling basis. Accepted papers are published online shortly after acceptance, with full volumes compiled and published annually in January. 

Manuscript Categories:

  1. Article Manuscripts: Scholarly papers based on original research (experimental, qualitative, descriptive, or historical).

  2. Article Manuscripts (Student Scholarship): Student-led scholarly papers based on original research. The student must be the first author, and the manuscript must be endorsed by a co-author holding a terminal degree.

  3. John Massengale Paper: Invitation-only papers authored by prominent scholars.

  4. WSKW Chronicles: Conference materials and proceedings.

General Requirements:

  • Originality: Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Formatting: Manuscripts should adhere to APA style (current edition) and be submitted in Microsoft Word format.

  • Length: Article Manuscripts should not exceed 15 pages; Student Scholarship Manuscripts should not exceed 15 pages (excluding references, cover page, and abstract).

  • Abstract: An abstract of up to 250 words must accompany the submission.

  • Ethical Standards: Research involving human or animal subjects must include appropriate ethical approval documentation.

Submission Components:

  • Cover Page: Including title, author(s) names and affiliations, contact information, funding sources, acknowledgments, conflict of interest statements, and a declaration of originality.

  • Manuscript: Including title (without author names), abstract, main text with appropriate headings, and references.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a rigorous blind peer-review process. Manuscripts are evaluated based on originality, clarity of purpose, methodological rigor, data analysis, conclusions, writing quality, adherence to APA style, and the relevance of tables and figures.
